Thanks to the lovely Kerry, I heard about Girls on the Run, which I want to join (as soon as enough cashola is raised to start a local chapter— please donate to our group!). Check out the mission statement:

“a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Our curricula addresses all aspects of girls’ development - their physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing.”

Um hi. Hell yes. You probably don’t want to watch the video on the site if your mascara isn’t waterproof. The girls are so cute!

In an airport nail salon in Nashville, Tennessee, I happened upon *my* favorite nail polish for me. It is perfect for my skin tone, doesn’t annoy me when I look at it.. it is just simply awesome. This picture from vampyvarnish.com really doesn’t do it justice, I swear, but omg I love it. Soo.. let me introduce you to No Spain, No Gain, from OPI’s fall 2009 Spain collection.

Yeah.. looks too pink in this picture, but oh well. You’ll just have to see it in real life :)

These up-and-backs to LA in a day are getting too hard for an old lady like me. BUT I mustered the strength for a teensy little trip to Ikea, and I’m pretty happy with my purchases and wish list.

On the subject of color and being girly, I bought this lamp shade, which really I have no use for at the moment:

An embroidered flower lampshade. Yes, that’s right.

I found a couch that is not as cute as the one I posted the other day, but just looks like “aaahhhhhhh [falls backward onto couch into deep sleep].” Touch choice. Also 1/3 of price. Hmmm.

And I bought a Queen Anne style writing desk that is going to get all kinds of paint treatment, because really, I just… really need my own stuff.

Oooh and how can I forget? While waiting for government officials to do their thing, I made an even tinier pit stop at Sephora, and let me just say, if you don’t want to spend your retirement in increments of $9, don’t even look at the current OPI for Sephora nail polish collection. I forced myself to narrow it down to THREE from about 12. Literally. And honestly I may still go back.

Stumbled upon it today, and there are so many cover prints that I love, that I simply can’t take it. Check out this one from Vanity Fair, 1932. She definitely seems to be wearing pants people, on the cover of a magazine in 1932. I like it.
